Aare River or Aar River |
The Aare River flows entirely within the territory of Switzerland. The Aare River flows for 295 km. This river has a fairly swift current with a water discharge between 351 to 735 cubic meters per second.
The main water sources of the Aare River come from the Unteraar Glacier or Lower Aare Glacier and the Oberaar Gletscher or Upper Aare Glacier, which are located in the Bernese Alps.
The river Aare passes through many villages and towns in Switzerland, before then joining the Rhine River which is its parent in Koblenz, to then flow into the North Sea.
The water of the Aare River is very clean and pure. The results of research on water samples from the Aare River show that this river water has a very good quality, and can be drunk directly without the need for cooking.
Even though it looks so beautiful, the Aare River is quite dangerous because of its swift current. Therefore there is a certain time to swim safely in this river, which is when the current is not so strong.
